Hello Again!
As a program owner with a lot of contacts, I get advertised to a lot. While I was on Vacation, I had someone try to get me in a matrix program. You know how it goes, put in $29 and you could walk away with $800,000!!! So I said to the person, “Wow, you could have saved me 10 Years online with something like this! Are you telling me I give you $29, and I walk away with $800,00?” The good reverend said, “Stop being sarcastic!” I replied, “I’m not being sarcastic, I’m just repeating what you told me.” I proceed to tell the good reverend that he made no mention of any product or service, which makes the program hereby illegal. The good reverend said, “What do you mean, I’m a Christian!!!!” My reply, “Reminds me of the biblical quote, just follow me and all of this will be yours!!!!!!!” Ok, so this ended the dialouge between myself and the good reverend, and without getting into the gory details I became the bad guy and the meany. Yes, the devil incarnate!!!!
You see my friends, you will find at times that mentoring and leadership is hard. People want to believe this stuff, they need to believe this stuff, versus following good things, legal things, like TrafficLeads2Income and the MarketersMustHaves.
So I returned from vacation and then saw this email in my inbox that offered potential income of over $800,000 for a one time $20 investment. So what’s with the 800,000? Must be a popular figure. So, I ask you, do you follow people blindly or use good judgement when you select what you follow? My intention with this article is not to anger folks, but to educate. Please, understand legalities. Please understand that if the comp plan in a program is promoted over the product/service or if the product/service is a clear front, we have a legal issue. These are not my rules, they are in place by government agencies to product you the consumer from scam and fraud. The saddest thing to me is that when we accept these things, we are clearly saying that we are unable to market properly. We are unable to generate the leads necessary to generate the income we seek. Once again, there is no get rich quick. Once again, there is a correct path fortunately:

Yes, the FederalTradeCommission governs multi-level marketing and the SecuritiesandExchangeCommission govern investments. What would they say about your little $20 investment. Is this the right thing to recommend to new people online? If so, quite frankly, I have wasted 10 Years online. But you and I know the truth on that, right?

This is so Spot On.It is very sad these types of programs.
Even I got lured into one of these on the admin level soon
to realize just how sinister they truly our.I basically lost
5 months of my life and career and luckily got out before
tarnishing my name in this industry.

I get so upset at all the junk that comes to me and when and when people {who’s name shall remain nameless} start promoting this kind of “crap”, it upsets me just like you Rob.
Fact is … the only thing it succeeds in doing is taking away the focus of members and puts them at risk.
It’s sad that this kind of thing STILL goes on – PEOPLE LISTEN UP! Use your noggin .. if it sounds too good to be true .. IT IS!

Thanks Rob, for telling people the truth.All people have to do now is believe us.I hate to admit it, but I have thrown away thousands on get rich programs,hey whats 10,20,47,97 bucks if you can make a 1000% return,fact is the program owners are the one’s getting rich,that’ why there is a new get rich program every day.

Yeah, Great Post… I’ve had this battle for years… The Truth can Hurt but must come out… I’ve been discussion this many many times…. with many many people but many don’t get it before they get burned.
As Always a few take advantage of the new, desperate people. I even had one of the “big” marketers asking me to join one of those money exchange programs with no products or services. I said: I don’t do stuff like that – It’s unlegal in most countries!
His Reply… “Why Not, It’s Money. You are leaving easy money on the table but that is up to you!”
Hmmm How can new and money hungry, desperate people know what to stay away from when the Leaders in the Industry and some trusted people are starting programs and are promoting unlegal, unethical stuff like this?

You have the advantege of having a good number of years experience of marketing online so you have seen and learned enough to know a genuine opportunity when it comes along. As for the newbies that come along to try their hand at online marketing are very vunerable to these type of junk scams and when they get ripped off from them this creates a shockwave or ripple effect that spreads all across the net and media hype gets behind it only to then ruin it for all the other genuine network marketing opportunities that people are having great success with and are happ to help others achive their dreams and goals.
So people I leave you with this thought for the day!

The fact is people start out to make money online and they get waylaid by all the crap about “the newest point-and-click, set-and-forget, money-on-auto-pilot, taking-the-Internet-by-storm, money-for-free, instant-riches, dragon … thing”. You know what I mean!
Rob is right, folks! Use your head! If it sounds too good to be true … it probably is! If business online was that simple, the world would be FULL of multi-billionaires! It’s NOT!
FOCUS on learning to market online! Don’t get waylaid and distracted by unscruplous marketers looking to take advantage of YOU! Find knowledgeable, trustworthy, honest mentors … and take the time to follow THEM.

Ask for proof. Don’t take anything on faith in this realm. Even when presented by people who have a reputation online — take it with a huge grain of salt — like a five pound bag.
Then stay skeptical until the HE comes again! Just say NO THANK YOU!(politely and move on)

Great post and awesome conversation! I am Christian (Catholic) myself, and while I don’t practice like I used to, I still hold on to core beliefs and values. One of those is not casting the first stone. Those who try to use the Bible to push things on people are not people to listen to. I remember some folks (whose background I won’t identify) who approached me after my father died and tried to push their faith on me by mis-quoting the Bible. Credibility and reputation come with honesty and integrity. And let’s not forget an ounce of humility….arrogance and casting stones only hurts you, not the other person.

Great article Rob! Wish I had seen this in 2006 when I was in trouble after being convinced to stockpile a few thousand dollars of products in my garage. I then fell for one of those HYIP deals and then you know the rest of the story there. When we treat an online business just like it is a storefront business we show up and go to work every day like other business owners do.
I am blessed to be with a real networking company that actually allows me to have my own high quality whole foods business from home since 2007. Our organic greens are unmatched and deliver superior nutrition. Our company even has the Better Business Bureau emblem on our site.
Thanks rob for writing a truthful report. This is just what we need to know at this time of economic crisis. People don’t know or understand what to do so they need someone who understand and can relate clearly.

Hmmm. Interesting how some people write articles about programs without talking to the person that emaed you about the 20 dollar investment. It was me that sent you the email. I gave you my phone number in the email to contact me 617-510-8923.
The 20 dollar investment does come with product. A great Facebook marketing product. To blindly write about this investment negatively makes me believe that after 10 years online you have waisted your time. My recommendation to this investment is a good one. I am at the hospital with my son at the moment so I must go. To be continued…. I do agree there is a ton of junk out there but on this one you failed in your due diligence

Well, this is my first post. I enjoyed your article, because like you and many others, I have been taken advantage of because of the same old story. “I will never hurt you like those other guys.” All I have wanted out the networking business is to stop being taken advantage of by big gurus who make a lot of money on us little people by saying, “you have to buy my leads from my company” instead of showing us how to make our own leads. I agree Rob…I don’t think we go to enough extreme when it comes to doing our, “Due Diligence” in researching aspects of various companies BEFORE we decide to join and place our money in the pot!!
When it comes to legalities it should be taken seriously!! And not to be opportunistic here, but since I have actually purchased this product myself and it has proven to be a great authority in the online world, please Feel free to check out this book, it has helped me tremendously when it comes to trying to secure myself, my practices and my websites online without having a business lawyer!! Hi Keith. I did not look closely with what you were doing with a certain product before I offended your recommendation. My Bad. The investment does come with several nice marketing products and Keith has matched those products with over $100 of additional tools that are sure to help the online marketer. My issue was with the unrealistic income potential income claim of $800,000 on a $20 investment. Keith is a reputable leader and I apologize for implying he was not. I have amended the blog accordingly.
