Rant of the week:
I recently endorsed a ClickBank Product, which I still endorse because the product is good. I had success on the resell side, but was horrified to learn of CB’s payment policy. So I figured I would educate you so you don’t walk into the CB Area as blind as I did. Here is the policy:
Customer Distribution Requirement
ClickBank will withhold payment of any account balance until the following criteria is met:
- Sales made with 5 or more different credit card numbers; and,
- Sales made with two different payment methods (either Visa, MasterCard, or PayPal). Note: PayPal purchases do not count toward the minimum 5 different credit card numbers.
This requirement is in place to help prevent Affiliates from abusing the ClickBank Affiliate program by using their accounts for the sole purpose of fraudulently collecting rebates and/or discounts on their own purchases.
Once you have met the Customer Distribution Requirement, your account will begin issuing payments normally, in accordance with our Accounting Policy, beginning on the next payment issuing date.
Now you have the info to make a more educated decision…….

Thanks for the tips about Clickbank. I have primarily used Google checkout and Pay Pal on my sites because most people can navigate those 2 processors.

The worst thing about Clickbank is not their payment policy. If you’re going to be a serious reseller then getting 5 sales with unique CC numbers should happen fairly quickly. The worst thing, in my opinion, is that you never know a sale is final until 60 days has passed. Clickbank’s refund rate is sky high, since a lot of people take advantage of their refund policy and buy products knowing when they make the purchase that they’re just going to get whatever they can out of it and request a refund, which Clickbank grants automatically, as long as its within the 60 days.

This week is also very relevant to me because as I mentioned in my blog post, I have three other programs I am working in that are monthly expenses that I have not yet axed, one of them CBPredators will be the subject of my next post, and I had no Idea of ClickBank’s payout policy! As Tim B. pointed out in the Skype Room, I can see the reasoning behind it, but I abhor it’s existence as you do. I also disagree strongly with the exclusion of PayPal as one of the five different payments. But it is what it is. I could tell you some horror stories related to PayPal and Ebay and not getting your money too. so it’s no just CB.

I’ve heard a lot of feedback on Clickbank! Some good some bad, on the topic of policy and so on, turns out they have some horrible restrictions and it can be tuff to try and actually earn some good money and then actually get it out. Mostly the ones making the BIG money are the ones that actually make the products themselves or maybe a big affiliate marketer who specialize in product selling. Keep an eye our for growing trends and do the right research you could find yourself in profit big time!
